The technical activities of the PNASF is implemented and monitored by the TECHNICAL ADVISORY COUNCIL consisting of the following core members, with further technical support by the SENIOR SCIENTIFIC COUNCILLORS.

Dr. Rajendra K Singh is semi-retired scientist based in Toronto, Canada. At present, he is actively engaged in the complex management of multi-disciplined projects related to Environment and Information Technology. His interests include Smart Grid toward CO2 reduction, safe use of pesticides, nutrition security, Communication Standards, and Electrical Safety. His several years of experience with multi-national companies and analytical interests in other cultures, and command of other languages make him confident in handling situations that require reconciliation of international approaches.

Developed method to determine pesticide residues in soil; Assisted members of Telecom Canada in deployment of Digital Communication; Supervised design and development of Smart Energy Meters; Established scholarships at University of Toronto, Canada in the field of Environment.

During 2002 and 2009 he made a considerable study on food and nutrition. At present he is residing in USA.

During post graduation in Mass Communication and Journalism served many national news papers; Officer, at Directorate of Oilseeds Research, Hyderabad, 1985, Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bengaluru, 1989; Information and Publiction Officer, Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR), Bengaluru, 1989 to date.

As a media person anchored/conducted more than 40 TV programmes and live programmes on Doordarshan on various aspects of agriculture., Consultant to Department of Horticulture, Water Resources Department, Government of Karnataka developing scripts for documentaries and interactive Cds and has scripted more than 10 documentaries on rural water supply and sanitation. Apart from that good number of official publications at IIHR, Bengaluru and Directorate of Oilseeds Research, Hyderabad. He has authored two books, edited four books, published three books and written many technical and popular papers.

Awards: Outstanding work on editing the International Conference on Vegetables -2002 (ICV-2002) Souvenir, 2002; Mr. P.B. Gaddagimath-Outstanding work on the editorial work on the publication ‘Food Security and Vegetables – A Global Perspective’, 2004; PNASF Silver Medal for his outstanding work on editorial work on the publication ’ Horticulture and Livelihood Security’, 2010.



Born in Patna, Bihar, India on December 30, 1953, Educated at St. Michael’s High School, Patna, 1970; M Sc (Hons) Chemistry, 1976 and M Sc (Tech) Science & Technology Development, 1978, Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS) Pilani, Rajasthan, India; MBA, IGNOU, New Delhi.

Presently, Prof. Huria is Senior Scientist, Technology Transfer & Business Development, at Central Food Technological Research Institute, Mysore, India.

Prof. Vinod Huria initiated his career as Senior Research Fellow, CFTRI Mysore (1978-1982), as a student of Dr. K. T. Achaya, and later became Research Associate at National Institute of Science Technology & Development Studies, New Delhi (1982-1983). In June 1983, he joined the National Dairy Development Board Anand, where he worked for over 14 years, attaining the position of the Head (Planning, MIS & Computers). In 1997, he joined the CFTRI, Mysore, and since then has been involved with the several key projects.

Prof. Vinod possesses several lines of specialization; Technology Management & Marketing, Consultancy Services, Project Management, Teaching (Visiting Faculty), Research & Development and Policy & Planning. Several developmental projects, planned by him, have been funded by the Government of India and implemented in various states, with the support of the NDDB. He was responsible for obtaining the ISO 9001 Certification for CFTRI.

Prof. Vinod Huria has travelled abroad for delivering keynote address on Technology Transfer at Durban (South Africa), and to present a lead paper on Supply Chain Management at Melbourne (Australia). He has chaired sessions in international and national conferences, organized conferences for the Indian Dairy Association (IDA), as its Secretary (North Zone). He is the founder Secretary General of Afro-Asian Federation of Food Science & Technology Institutions (AAFFOSTI), Founder Member of Swedish South Asian Network on Fermented Foods (SASNET), Technical Advisory Council Member of Prem Nath Agricultural Science Foundation (PNASF), Founder Member of Vegetable Science International Network (VEGINET), and has served as the President of the Association of Food Scientist & Technologists, India (AFSTI).

Prof. Vinod K Huria has over 60 research papers, popular articles, book reviews and monographs to his credit. He is on the panel for reviewing books for the IIM Bangalore, and his contributions are well recognized by the professional community

Associated in the development and release of four vegetable varieties, namely, “ Arka Manik “(watermelon), “Arka Sheetal” (longmelon), “Arka Bahar “(bottle gourd) and “ Arka Nishant “ (radish), and three high yielding cashew varieties, namely, “NRCC Selection-1”, “NRCC Selection-2” and “Bhaskara”

Established the “National Cashew Gene Bank” (NCGB) , at NRCC, for 451 clonal germplasm accessions of cashew. Standardized the “Softwood grafting technique for cashew” and recommended the same technique for commercial multiplication of cashew varieties. Established “Cashew Scion Banks” for 25 released varieties of cashew and “Cashew Nurseries “ both at Shantigodu & Puttur Campuses of NRCC.

Study Tour on Advanced training in protected cultivation of vegetables and flowers, USA and Canada, 1991; As an accomplished agronomist, he contributed significantly in realizing the potential yield of vegetable varieties and hybrids grown in the open field as well as under protected cultivation using hydroponics, organic, inorganic production technologies to a sole crop and in horticultural based cropping systems. He was the principle investigator in several National and World Bank aided research projects which helped significantly in strengthening the National Agricultural Research System in India.

In his academic career, he guided several M.Sc & Ph.D students in Horticulture from University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore and is the author of more than 100 research publications, scientific abstracts, popular articles, technical bulletins, chapters in books and videos. He has been conferred several honorary positions, Director (Technical), Sri Disha Biotech Pvt.Ltd., Hyderabad, Member Technical Advisory Council , PNASF, Bangalore, Director, Training (R&D), The Institute of Simplified Hydroponics, Bangalore and provides training and consultancy services in field grown, green house and hydroponics production of horticultural crops. He is also actively engaged in creating nutritional awareness among school children in Bangalore.

Dr. C.P.A. Iyer obtained M. Sc and Ph.D. degrees in Horticulture from the Post Graduate School, I.A.R.I., New Delhi and did his post doctoral research at the Institute of Horticultural Plant Breeding, Wageningen, the Netherlands, in 1965.

Dr. Iyer served as Geneticist (Fruits) at the Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bangalore, in 1968 and later became the Head of the Division of Fruit Crops at the same Institute. He was the All India Project Coordinator for fruits and coordinated research project on fruits on an all India basis. Subsequently appointed Director, Central Institute of Horticulture, Lucknow, India.

Dr. Iyer was the FAO International Horticulturist in Bangladesh and as Consultants for projects in Nigeria, Myanmar and Bangladesh. Was a Visiting Scientist at the University of Hawaii, Honolulu, USA.

Evolved many hybrid varieties in mango, guava and papaya.

Dr. Iyer has traveled visited important Horticultural Institutions in United States, the Netherlands, U.K., Germany, Belgium, France, Israel, Australia, Philippines and Thailand.

Dr. Iyer was a Keynote speaker and Chairman of many sessions during International Mango Symposium held in India, Australia, Israel and Brazil.

Dr. Iyer continues to take active part now in international consultancy, writing books, giving lectures and attending symposia.
